Following the success of our first Play In A Day in 2023, we are repeating the event this year and significantly expanding it by moving to a local venue with a stage, holding it over two days and looking at ways in which we can engage many more young people.
Participants will once again create a performance for their families, friends and members of the community, discovering new skills and showcasing their collective talent. They will, once again, be guided under expert tuition of Alex, an experienced and highly motivational professional. A cohort of STARS members will be on hand to support Alex throughout the day. Youngsters will learn new skills involving drama, music, dance, collaboration and the essentials of performance. And all in just one day!
STARS have enjoyed amazing success in the Mablethorpe & Sutton-on-Sea area since theatres opened up following Covid-19 and wish to continue to share the benefits of that with our community. We believe that nurturing creativity through the performing arts is increasingly being overlooked and opportunities for young people locally have been diminished since the closure of our secondary school. There has been a 22% decline in drama teachers in state-funded schools since 2011. This year STARS will once again arrange funding for this event, which is FREE for two groups of up to 24 children each, aged 7 to 11 and 12 to 16.
Once again, it will be necessary to book a place for each participant and this will be possible via our partners, TicketSource, by using the links below.
